C. Anthony Hunt is E. Franklin Frazier Professor of African American
Studies. He is a United Methodist minister and currently serves as the
Superintendent of the Baltimore-Harford District in Central Maryland.
He was previously the Executive Director of the Multi-Ethnic Center
for Ministry of the United Methodist Church in Columbia, Maryland.
Additionally, he is Professor of Practical and Systematic Theology at
St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland, and is an
adjunct professor at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.
Dr. Hunt has previously held faculty and administrative appointments
at American University, Goucher College, McKendree College, and
Africa University (Zimbabwe). He is a graduate of the University of
Maryland (B.A. Economics), Troy State University (M.B.A.), Wesley
Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and the Graduate Theological
Foundation (D.Min. and Ph.D.). Additionally, he has completed postdoctoral
studies at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, MD, and the
Center of Theological Inquiry at Princeton University. He is the author
of several publications including, And Yet the Melody Lingers: Essays,
Sermons and Prayers on Religion and Race; Blessed are the
Peacemakers: A Theological Analysis of the Thought of Howard
Thurman and Martin Luther King, Jr.; Upon the Rock: A Model for
Ministry with Black Families; and Building Hope: New Church
Development in the African-American Community.
