Raymunda Jordan, O.P., is James Ashbrook Professor of Pastoral Psychology. She is a native of Kanturk, County Cork, Ireland. She was educated by the Sisters of Mercy and entered the Dominican Congregation of Saint Catherine of Siena, Newcastle, Natal, in 1958. She holds a Teacher’s Diploma in Secondary Education, a B.Ed., and a B.A. from London University, and a M.S. from Loyola College, Baltimore, Maryland. She is a member of The British Association of Counselors and a member of The Association of Pastoral Counselors. Sr. Raymunda has worked in the field of education for over 20 years, five as Vice-Principal and ten as Principal of Mixed Comprehensive Schools in London. She served as General Councillor for her Congregation for six years. In 1992, she studied for a M.S. at Loyola College, Maryland, during which time she became part of the community of The School Sisters of Notre Dame, and did a two year internship at Lighthouse Youth and Family Clinic. On her return to England, Sr. Raymunda served as Prioress of The Dominican House of Formation at Oxford and taught pastoral theology at Blackfriars/Oxford and worked as a therapist in a group of residential homes for adolescents. She serves as Vicaress for The Dominican Congregation of St. Catherine of Siena, Newcastle, Natal, South Africa, and works as a facilitator for religious, both contemplative and apostolic congregations. Dr. Jordan does seminary work and serves as Formation Coordinator in her own congregation. She also works with both the Bishops’ Conference and The Conference Religious on Child Protection Vulnerable Adult policies and procedures as outlined by A Programme for Action: The Nolan Report. She holds the D.Min. from the Foundation.
