After practicing for a year in Santo Domingo, he emigrated to the United States, where he worked in Bronx Lebanon Hospital. His interest in diagnostic imaging took him to Philadelphia in 1992, where he studied at Thomas Jefferson University. He then became an active part of the Latino community, advocating for quality, bilingual healthcare and unity among the Dominicans in Philadelphia. Dr. Martínez began working as a psychotherapist in 1992, and later became one of the founders of Northeast and Lehigh Valley Community Mental Health Centers, one of the largest providers of outpatient services in the North Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley areas. He completed his M.B.A. at DeSales University with a specialty in Healthcare Administration, and is pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Counseling through the UASD.
