Peter E. Roussakis is Charles Wesley Professor of Sacred Music. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Southern Connecticut State University, the Master of Church Music from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the D.Min. with an emphasis in Church Music from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, taken cooperatively with the Royal School of Church Music, the Master of Sacred Theology in Liturgical Studies from Boston University, and the Ph.D. in Theological Studies from the Graduate Theological Foundation. Dr. Roussakis has taken further graduate studies at Harvard University and at Ashland Theological Seminary and Ohio University where he held faculty appointments. For a number of years at Southwestern University, in Georgetown, Texas, he held a professorship in sacred music. He was ordained in the Brethren Church. Earlier in his career, Dr. Roussakis served as a minister of music and for the past twenty years as a local pastor. He has authored numerous articles and several books, including Classic Worships: With Brethren in Mind, and Confessing the Compendium: Praying the Lord's Prayer as Confessing Faith. He wrote the introductions to two recently reprinted classic works in sacred music, Joseph Aston's Music in Worship, and J. Ernest Rattenbury's The Evangelical Doctrines of Charles Wesley's Hymns. His primary interests in sacred music include Anglican choral music literature and conducting, hymnology, and church music theology.
