This is a partial listing of affiliated institutions through which students can complete coursework toward their degree at Cloverdale College. Students can complete courses through institutions other than those listed below by submitting a request in writing for review and approval.
Cloverdale College/Graduate Theological Foundation is proud to offer E-Tutorials designed and proctored by Cloverdale faculty. Note: this link will take you to the comprehensive list of E-Tutorials offered by the Graduate Theological Foundation. Unless otherwise noted, all of these are offered at the Undergraduate level. Please indicate as such when registering.
Cloverdale College/Graduate Theological Foundation offers Distance Learning Modules to aid those students for whom the financial and/or time demands of traveling to educational venues prove inconvenient. This educational model uses a creative combination of media including audio cassettes, video cassettes, CDs, and required readings. Each Distance Learning Modules is valued at one Unit of Study.
International Institute of Theological and Tribunal Studies, IITTS
Because of the growing shortage of canonists and qualified Tribunal staff in the U.S., Canada and elsewhere, on December 15, 2005, the Graduate Theological Foundation formally endorsed the International Institute of Theological and Tribunal Studies, IITTS (formerly International Institute of Tribunal Studies) and the following year elevated it to the P.R.I.M.E. category of relationship thereby allowing for degree requirements to be met completely in Los Angeles. With the endorsement of His Eminence Cardinal Roger Michael Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles, Msgr. Charles J. Chaffman serves as a member of the Executive Advisory Counsel and as Director of the Institute. The Cardinal has stated that the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has much to offer the Institute, including facilities, expertise and faculty.
Oxford University The Department for Continuing Education's Public Programs at Oxford University offer online courses in archaeology and art, history, philosophy and English literature. Each course is taken online, asynchronously, and is ten weeks in duration. Two short papers are required for most courses. The typical cost of one course is about $750.00 (US). Course topics change periodically and interested students are encouraged to visit Oxford University's website at this address for details: http://onlinecourses.conted.ox.ac.uk/ . Students may fulfill part or all of their course requirements for the Cloverdale College B.R.E., B.Th., and B.F.A. degrees by taking courses from The Department for Continuing Education's Public Programs at Oxford University.
Catholic Home Study Service Catholic Home Study Service (CHSS), sponsored by the Vincentian community and the Missouri Knights of Columbus, has been offering free courses on the Catholic Faith for more than seventy years. It is based at Saint Mary's of the Barrens, historic "motherhouse"of the Vincentian Community in America. Father Oscar Lukefahr, C.M. is the Director of Catholic Home Study Service. Cloverdale College values each course through Catholic Home Study Service at 3 college credit hours per course.
University of Notre Dame The Satellite Theological Education Program (STEP) at the University of Notre Dame offers quality theological education to pastoral ministers and other adult Catholics across the country. Conducted via the Internet, STEP provides a wide variety of adult faith formation opportunities. STEP is a part of Notre Dame’s Institute for Church Life (ICL).
University of Dayton The Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF) is an Internet distance-learning program to support catechist and adult faith formation in the Church.
Boston College Institute of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry This Institute offers Continuing Education courses. The CE programs are designed to meet the needs of the contemporary church. Every person interested in exploring the important issues of the Church today can find a workshop, lecture or course to meet their needs.

Cloverdale College will recognize and endorse certificate courses through Gatlin Education Services on a case-by-case basis.

All students are required to submit a list of proposed courses to the Dean’s office for final approval before beginning their studies. These credits may come from whatever accredited college, university or diocesan approved training program the student chooses.
NOTE: Residential and internet courses taken at colleges, universities and diocesan seminaries are accepted on a case by case basis, as are professional-level workshops. Internet courses already taken from the specific Approved Educational Venues listed by Cloverdale College will also be accepted towards the degree.
