Hotel Accommodations

The Jameson Inn (formerly Signature Inn) is located just off the Indiana Toll Road. The phone number there is 574-277-3211, and our students are given a reduced rate when they mention that they are with the Graduate Theological Foundation at the time of reservation. Students should mention if they are clergy, and if they can pay with a church check, a further discount may be applied. If they are able to show a tax exemption certificate, those charges will be modified. Amenities include Deluxe Breakfast Express, heated indoor swimming pool, fitness center, in-room refrigerator/microwave, coffee maker, data ports in all rooms. The Inn is about a 15 minute ride from the airport, 5 minutes from the University of Notre Dame, and about 10 minutes to downtown South Bend. A shuttle service to and from the airport must be arranged when you make your reservation. If you are driving, take Exit #77 from the Toll Road and turn left at the light. The Jameson Inn will be approximately a block up on your left. There are several restaurants nearby such as Denny's, Perkins, Bob Evans, and others. Breakfast is included with your room.

Ramada Plaza Hotel - (formerly the Holiday Inn City Center) is located at 213 W. Washington St. in downtown South Bend. The phone number is 574-232-3941. You should be able to get a room during the week, but when the University of Notre Dame has a home football game, it is impossible to find a room on Friday and Saturday nights anywhere in South Bend or the surrounding towns. The Ramada Plaza Hotel should give you a reduced rate if you tell them you are a student of the GTF at the time of registration. Amenities include irons and ironing boards, hair dryers, coffee makers, data ports in all rooms, complimentary shuttle service to and from South Bend Regional Airport, heated indoor swimming pool, in house restaurants, exercise facility.

Other Hotels - There are obviously many more hotels in South Bend and Mishawaka, but the two above are the ones with which we have arranged discounts for our students. We are familiar with Hyatt Place located 215 W. Day Road, just off North Main Street in Mishawaka (574-258-7777) which would be an 8-10 minute drive from the Foundation, but we have no special arrangements with that establishment.

Bus Service From Chicago - There is a bus line called Coach USA (also known as United Limo) which runs between O'Hare and Midway Airports and South Bend/Mishawaka. The phone numbers are 800-833-5555 and 574-254-5000. They also have a web site at www.busville.com. You would follow the signs at O'Hare (of a red bus and also red arrows on the floor) to the Shuttle Bus Center where you can buy a ticket. It takes about 3 1/2 hours from O'Hare to the South Bend Regional Airport. You can get off at the South Bend Regional Airport and take the shuttle bus service or a taxi to the hotel.

From U.S. 20 Bypass

Take Exit 331 north and continue straight on what soon becomes Church Street. Once you go under the train overpass, you will go to the third signal light, which will be Lincoln Way East. Turn right and go about two blocks, and the Foundation is located just after the Presbyterian Church on the right. There is street parking in front, or you can turn in between the two buildings and park behind Dodge House in the parking lot at the back.

From the Indiana Toll Road

Take the Mishawaka Exit and turn left (south) onto Capital Avenue. Follow Capital Avenue until you cross over the river. You will immediately come to the intersection of Capital and Lincoln Way East. Turn right onto Lincoln Way East and continue until you reach the signal light at Cedar Street. Continue straight, and the Foundation is a couple of blocks farther on your left, on the east side of the Presbyterian Church. There is street parking in front, or you can turn in between the two buildings and park behind Dodge House in the parking lot at the back.

From the Jameson Inn

As you leave the Jameson Inn, turn to your right, south, which is 933 (also 31, also turns into Main St.). Continue on this same street and you will pass St. Mary's College, Holy Cross College, and St. Joseph's High School (on your right) and the sign for the University of Notre Dame on your left. Continue straight and you will pass over the river and go by the hospital which will be on your right. At that point, the street curves to your right and back to your left and becomes a one-way street. You will pass through the following streets: Marion, Madison, Lasalle, Colfax, Washington, Jefferson, Wayne, and Western. The next street is Monroe where you will turn left. You stay on Monroe, which soon turns into Lincoln Way East, and continue on this street until you are in Mishawaka. You will come to a signal light at Main Street and the next signal light will be at Church Street. From West Washington St. turn right (south) onto Main Street and continue to the fourth light where you will turn left onto Monroe Street. You stay on Monroe, which soon turns into Lincoln Way East, and continue on this street until you are in Mishawaka. You will come to a signal light at Main Street and the next signal light will be at Church Street. Continue about two more blocks, and the Foundation is located just after the Presbyterian Church on the right.
