Dr. Omar Shahin, Dean of our Islamic Studies Department, has recently made a trip to Somalia during which time he engaged in meetings with both East Africa University and Puntland State University (Garawi Branch). We are pleased to say that Dr. Shahin, on behalf of the GTF, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with each of these institutions which we hope will lead to future institutional collaboration and cooperation benefiting the students of all three institutions.
Mr. Oscar Salazar Llatas, from Perú, successfully defended his Ph.D. in Theological Studies on November 6, 2019 in Manatí, Puerto Rico. The topic of his thesis was El ser humano creado a imagen de Dios (The Human Being, Created in God´s Image). Mr. Salazar Llatas is the first native Peruvian student to have completed all three degrees with the Graduate Theological Foundation: The B.Th., the M.Th. and now the Ph.D. A very colorful defense, cradled by the wind and the sun in a beautiful mountain in Puerto Rico, was only topped by the ease with which he answered the questions presented by the defense panel: Drs. José Delgado, Israel Rodríguez and Jorge Colón. Mr. Salazar Llatas hopes to travel to Oklahoma City for the homecoming graduation this summer.
We would like to extend a most sincere congratulations to Dr. Salazar Llatas and we look forward to welcoming him to Oklahoma City in June!
